Policy/Research Internship (position filled)

September 2009 - ICOS is seeking a volunteer intern for 3-months (Oct-Dec 2009). The focus of the internship will be on policy and research work to support ICOS’ strategy. The person appointed will work closely with the Director but should also be available to work on other ICOS’ projects and events when the need arises. The position will offer a recent graduate with an interest in international education/development or related areas some valuable professional work experience in a friendly small office environment. The intern will receive a small weekly stipend to cover travel and subsistence. Hours of work are negotiable but the minimum commitment is 20 hours per week.

The main research interest areas are :

  • Irish immigration policies and impact on non-EEA students
  • International education : Quality of the student experience

The following are essential criteria for this post:

  • A relevant third-level degree
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with fluency in English
  • Excellent interpersonal and team work skills
  • Attention to detail

ICOS provides a range of support services to its member institutions and also manages the Irish Aid Fellowship Training Programme (FTP) for the Department of Foreign Affairs.
