Policy Statement: A vision we fully support - the fall-out from the clean up needs to be well-managed

ICOS has today welcomed the reforms envisioned by the new policy statement while highlighting concerns about managing the fall-out for students from a clean-up of the sector.

ICOS Director Sheila Power says:

"ICOS is fully supportive of the vision in the statement, of raising the quality bar and tougher regulation of colleges - the concern would be with what happens on the journey. Rogue colleges should see in this statement that they have no future, but further closures will mean the displacement of hundreds more students along the way. It is in Ireland's interest to do as much as we can to look out for these students in the transition period. One of the greatest needs at this time will be for clarity of information. We need to do as much as possible to ensure that both current and prospective students can make informed decisions on their education choices."
