New data released on International Students

December 2012 saw the release of two key datasets that provide extra information on international students who have recently chosen to study in Ireland.

Education in Ireland made available its annual International Students in Higher Education in Ireland 2012 and the Higher Education Authority (HEA) released domicilary data on students in HEA-funded third level institutions for 2011-12. Both reports offer a picture of international students in Irish universities and institutes of technology but there are key differences between the two in their coverage and timeframe (follow the link below for a guide).

These publications followed soon after November's UNESCO Global Education Digest, compiling 2010 data, which is especially useful for making comparisons between countries and exploring the wider picture of international student mobility (see tables 9 and 10, starting at page 134).

Also in November, the QS Intelligence Unit also produced a very accessible guide to international student mobility - International Students: Where Do They Go?
