New group to give impetus to International Education agenda
ICOS Director Sheila Power is one of eight nominees from the education sector to a new High Level Group on International Education confirmed by the Minister of Education and Science, Batt O’Keeffe.
The Minister had last August indicated his intention to set up this special group “to drive the international education agenda”. The group will be chaired by the Mr Paddy McDonagh, Assistant Secretary with responsibility for International Affairs in DES. Other Government Departments and agencies will also be represented.
According to the Terms of Reference, “the purpose of the new High Level Group (HLG) on International Education is to facilitate a more joined-up national approach to the promotion of Ireland as a centre of education for international students by both public and private sector stakeholders”.
The first meeting of the HLG is scheduled for 27th January, 2010.
