Cross-Cultural Training Programme

Montage of images from ICOS training

“Have you ever wondered why some international students don’t make eye contact with you?”

“Or why a seemingly simple group work task with a culturally mixed group of students runs into unexpected difficulties?”

ICOS' training programmes are aimed at increasing cross-cultural awareness and cross-cultural competency for those who work with or teach international students. They have been specifically developed to meet the needs of those who work in the third level education sector. ICOS tries to keep group sizes small to encourage group interaction and sharing of expertise.

Training courses available are:

Half day workshops

* Introduction to Cross-Cultural Awareness
* Introduction to Cross-Cultural Communication
* Teaching in a Cross-Cultural Environment

One day workshop

* Introduction to Cultural Awareness and Cross-Cultural Communication

Tailored training

* Tailored training packages are also available subject to capacity.

Shorter training and information sessions

These can include orientation sessions for international students, one hour ‘Taster’ sessions and information sessions on topics such as developments in immigration or employment legislation for international students.

ICOS is acutely aware of the pressure that training budgets may be under in the current economic climate and our training rates are very competitive.
