New Officers for ICOS Board
Following the first meeting of the new Board on September 2008, ICOS is pleased to announce the appointment of new officers for 2008-09 as follows:
- Chair: Ms Suzanne Buckley, International Student Support Officer, UCC
- Vice Chair: Ms Sinead Cooke, International Affairs Manager, WIT
- Hon Treasurer: Ms Ann Flynn, International Student Officer, DIT
Suzanne Buckley has already made a significant contribution to the organisation over the past few years, not least in bringing the international students' forum to UCC last year and also representing ICOS in discussions with various Government Departments. Her experience and knowledge of the sector will be a considerable asset as ICOS embraces the challenges ahead.
The environment has become difficult for everyone but there have also been some achievements and as we begin a new academic year, ICOS will continue represent its members and lobby in the best interests of international students.
We also welcome our other new officers, Sinead Cooke and Ann Flynn and value the skills and knowledge they bring to the table.
Finally, a word of appreciation to our outgoing Chair and Vice Chair, Philip Curtis (RCSI) and Mary Simpson (AIT) for their sterling service. I have no doubt we will continue to draw on their experience.
